About Us:learn to ski

At what age can a child learn to ski?
Once they're steady on their legs, they should be able to begin learning skiing and skating. Many have reported learning just after their first birthday.

My name is Franco Bizzi. I live in London with my wife Ana Rosa Alonso and our two children. Like most parents we enjoy spending time with our children and naturally we want the best for them. We wanted to find activities that we could all do together as a family and as we love sport, such as skiing, we decided that this would be a healthy, constructive way to spend quality time together. Also, our children like to go to ski very much.

If you thought that learning to ski was something you could never accomplish, or you've seen it on TV and in the movies. You've watched Olympic athletes compete on the slopes of faraway mountains & countries. Now you want to try skiing, here has some great news for you!

If you have already tried skiing & snowboarding, or you want to learn for the very first time, take a lesson from a pro at one of Ski Country's great resorts. Your skills will improve faster & easier than learning on your own, you'll have a blast learning along side others and making new friends, and once you've got the basics down you'll be able to start exploring the other great mountains & terrain that await you.

Ski length determines both how stable a ski will feel at speed, and how effective the ski will be at gripping icy surfaces.

Find a slope you feel comfortable on and stop near the top. Make a big sweeping right turn at a moderate speed in the snow plough position. Towards the end of the turn, as your skis begin to turn across the hill, make sure all your weight is on your left foot, and gently lift the back of your right ski up off the snow for a second, before putting it back down parallel to your left ski, so that both skis are roughly shoulder width apart. Keep turning both skis across the hill until you slow down and stop. Then try a sweeping turn to the left, starting with your skis in the snow plough shape and finishing with them parallel.

We consulted with professional instructors before putting together our 'Ten Simple Steps' series and successfully tested our methods on our own children. Due to the success of our methods we have decided to share our knowledge with other parents so that they too can enjoy this exciting and rewarding experience.
